The Gift of Speech is registered with Medicare and accepts the Chronic Disease Management, Better Start and Helping Children with Autism (HCWA) referrals from your GP or Paediatrician. We are also a registered NDIS provider and registered with private health funds.

Medicare

Medicare provides a rebate for 5 sessions per calendar year across a diverse range of health disciplines (e.g., speech pathology, occupational therapy). Each session provided under the Chronic Disease Managementwill be 30 minutes long and will require a co-payment. The rebate is $61.80 per session for 5 sessions. A GP’s referral will be required at the initial appointment.

Medicare also provides rebates for children with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or Pervasive Developmental Disorder (PDD) or other complex needs.  With a referral from a Paediatrician under the  Helping Children with Autism (HWCA) or Better Start, an individual can access up to 4 Allied Health assessment sessions and up to 20 Allied Health therapy sessions in their lifetime. The HWCA or Better Start has a rebate of $87.25.

NDIS

As a registered provider with the National Disability Insurance Scheme, we provide a variety of services.

Please note that as of May 2021 we will no longer be registered under NDIS’s Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI).

Private Health Funds

Please check with your private insurance if you have Speech Pathology cover. Rebates are dependent on each individual’s private health insurance.
